Clothing

One of the most important
decisions to make after you have scheduled your portrait session is
what clothing to wear. I have people ask me all the time what
clothing they should wear during their photography session, so here
is what I tell people and recommend.
First, try to remember that a family or personal portrait is about the family or the person, the clothes need to not be a distraction that will take the viewer away form the purpose of the photograph...you! Second, I recommend and encourage that you bring several different outfits or at least different tops to change into. And third, the colors; You can wear lighter colored clothing, whites or blues for example, but I usually recommend some type of dark clothing, some examples would be black, brown, or maroon. One final piece of advise that is crucial...everyone must wear the same thing. If one person is wearing something different two things happen: they draw the attention away from the whole family and onto themselves, and they don't look like they belong to the group.
